About
History
One of Donna’s first memories of sewing was at age 8 when her grandmother taught her to hand sew a buttonhole. Sewing has been part of Donna’s family for 3 generations. Family and people are important! That is why Donna uses her sewing skills to help clients create special homes. Sewing window treatments, cushions and pillows is one way to help make a house feel like a special home for each of the special people living there.
Undercover Sewing was a dream for many years as Donna raised her own family. She sewed clothing and curtains for her own children and friends. Donna learned about the “fabrication workroom” business by taking classes, attending the Custom Workroom Conference, and joining Window Covering Association of America (WCAA).
A love for sewing, family and a deep faith in God helped Donna take the leap in 2015 to turn the dream into a reality! Undercover Sewing became a business! The name Undercover Sewing is based on Ps 139:13, “You, God, formed my inward parts, you covered me in my mother’s womb. I am wonderfully made.” Every person is special and needs a special place to call home.
The business began by providing baby nurseries, quilts and other children’s items. The business evolved and Donna began to specialize in window treatments. This led to becoming a dealer for Comfortex Window Fashions so that Undercover Sewing could provide shades and blinds to compliment the beautifully sewn draperies and valances for a complete window treatment. Donna continued to learn and specialize in pillows and cushions. Please come visit the workroom in Pasadena, Maryland to see samples of work by Undercover Sewing!
